At 09:15 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following reports of a small punt adrift off Trefusis Point.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 09:20 and arrived on scene off Trefusis Point at 09:25. A search was commenced to the north of Trefusis Point towards Penarrow Point, with nothing being found so the inshore lifeboat returned to Trefusis Point and commenced a search to the west where the punt with a man and his dog were located on the shoreline. A member of the lifeboat crew was put ashore and having spoken to the owner it was agreed that the inshore lifeboat would tow the boat around to Kiln Quay while the man and his dog walked across the rocks to meet them. The boat was handed back to its owner at 10:05 and the inshore lifeboat was then released to return to its station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway at 10:10 where it was refuelled, rehoused and ready for service by 10:25.

The occupant and his dog had been making their way from Truro to Sailors Creek in the Penryn River when the outboard on their 6ft punt had broken down off Trefusis Point, but he had managed to paddle to the rocks where the inshore lifeboat located them
