Falmouth inshore lifeboat launched at 9.32am to a report of a kayak drifting near Nare Head. Portscatho Coastguard Rescue Team were also tasked to investigate.

The inshore lifeboat with crew members Jamie Wakefield (helm), Tamsin Mulcahy and Lloyd Barron on board, arrived on scene at 9.51am and conducted a coastline search from Nare Head east to Kiberick Cove. During this search the lifeboat crew received information from the Coastguard Rescue Team that they had located the kayak at Tregagle’s Hole on the west side of the Nare Head. The lifeboat proceeded to this position and found a snorkler near the kayak. He confirmed that it was his kayak and had anchored it while he dived.

Once it had been established that no one was in danger, the lifeboat was released at 10.10am and returned back at the lifeboat station at 10.31am.

Although this was a false alarm, the report was made with good intention.
