Report of collision between two yachts

At 17:46 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following a report of a collision between two yachts off St Anthony Lighthouse. The smaller yacht Sally T had lost its rigging and had suffered hull damage but the three people and a dog on board were reported to be uninjured. The other yacht which had not suffered any significant damage was reported to be standing by the yacht.
The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 17:54 arriving on scene at 18:02. Two of the yachts occupants and the dog were transferred to the Inshore Lifeboat while the skipper and two lifeboat crewmembers made an initial check of the damage. Once it was confirmed there was no water ingress the lifeboat crew assistance in removing the sails before the rigging was cut away. Once this was complete at 18:51 the yacht was escorted back to the Port Pendennis Marina where it was safely moored at 19:29, the Inshore Lifeboat then being released to return to its station.
The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 19:42 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service by 20:00.
