At 16:46 Falmouth Coastguard requested the launch of Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat following reports of two kayaks on the rocks below the Portscatho NCI Lookout near Porthcurnic Beach. The Portscatho and Mevagissey Coastguard Cliff Rescue Teams were tasked to also assist.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 16:51 and having rounded Zone Point headed up to the East arriving off Portscatho at 17:03. While on route the ILB was advised that there was concern for five people, the two original casualties and also three members of the public who had gone to assist. The Inshore Lifeboat anchored and veered into the rocks recovering the younger casualty onto the Inshore Lifeboat at 17:09. The remaining casualty and the other members of the public paddled back to the beach or made their way across the rocks. The Inshore Lifeboat escorted them all back to the beach where the other casualty was safely dropped ashore at 17:20, the Inshore Lifeboat being released to return to its station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 17:42 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service by 17:58.

The original casualties were a father and daughter who had got blown onto the rocks and three other members of the public went to assist them. Thankfully with assistance all managed to make it back to the beach with no injuries.
