Inshore lifeboat (Launched 18:22 / Returned 20:20) – Diane Bush (Helmsman), Tom Bird, Adam West

Details:

At 18:17 Falmouth Coastguard requested the launch of Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat to assist the 7m Yacht Tickled Pink which had become dismasted ½ mile East of Pendennis Point. The initial report came from a 999 call made by a member of the public.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 18:22 and arrived on scene off Pendennis Point at 18:26. The crew of the Inshore Lifeboat assisted the two occupants of the yacht to recover its mast and sails before taking it in tow. It was taken to Mylor Harbour where it was safely moored alongside the pontoon at 20:10, the Inshore Lifeboat being released to return to its station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 20:20 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service by 20:35.

The yacht had been sailing when the mast had come away from the deck and snapped in half. The skipper and his crew were very grateful for the assistance they received.
