At 12:05 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched to assist a sailing dinghy with two persons on-board which was in difficulties in the Falmouth Docks Basin.
The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 12:12 and having rounded the docks at 12:15 located the dinghy off the Eastern Arm of the docks being assisted by a passing yacht. Having checked that there were no injuries the Inshore Lifeboat took over the tow of the dinghy which was taken up the Carrick Roads to Loe Beach where it was safely delivered to the beach with its occupants at 12:54, the Inshore Lifeboat being released to return to its station.
The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 13:18 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service by 13:47.
The Wayfarer Dinghy had suffered problems with its rigging and had drifted into the docks basin close to the entrance to the Pendennis Shipyard.
