Assistance to broken down Rigid Inflatable

Inshore lifeboat: (Launched 18:04 / Returned 19:15) – Neil Capper (Helmsman), Sandy Procter, Adam West

Details:

At 17:58 Falmouth Coastguard requested the launch of Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launch to assist a 4m Rigid Inflatable with three people on board which had broken down while towing a 6m pontoon from Flushing to Point Penpol.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 18:04 and headed up the Carrick Roads arriving on scene at 18:12. The Rigid Inflatable was taken in tow for Mylor Harbour where it was safely secured, before the Inshore Lifeboat returned to tow the Pontoon also into Mylor. The Inshore Lifeboat was released at 19:09 to return to its station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 19:15 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service by 19:30.

The Rigid Inflatable had run out of fuel and while towing the pontoon which had taken much longer than expected. The skipper was very grateful for the assistance given.
