Report of person in the water

At 15:02 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following reports of a person in the water on the Greenbank side of the Prince of Wales Pier. The Falmouth Coastguard Cliff Rescue Team, Ambulance Paramedics and the Police were also tasked to assist.
With some crew already being at the Lifeboat Station the Boarding Boat was launched at 15:04 to investigate while the Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 15:09. The boarding boat arrived on scene at 15:07 followed by the Inshore Lifeboat at 15:11. The casualty was recovered on to the Inshore Lifeboat by 15:19 which then returned to the Lifeboat Station Pontoon were the casualty was handed into the care of the ambulance paramedics at 15:25. Unfortunately the casualty was confirmed as deceased a short time later.
At 15:30 the Inshore Lifeboat was re-tasked to carry out a search of the immediate area where the casualty had been located. The boarding boat was stood down at 15:35. The Inshore Lifeboat completed its search at 15:58 and was then released to return to its station.
The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 16:02 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service by 18:30.
The stations thoughts are with the family of this casualty at this difficult time.
