Details:

At 18:14 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched to assist a speedboat with one person on board which had broken down 1.5 miles South of Zone Point.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 18:24 and arrived on scene at 18:39. A tow line was passed to the vessel and at 18:43 the tow back to Falmouth commenced. The speedboat was towed back to the Falmouth Marina in the Penryn River where it was safely berthed at 19:30, the Inshore Lifeboat being released to return to its station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 19:44 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service by 20:00.

It appears that this incident was caused when the boat ran out of fuel so suitable safety advise was given. This was the third call for the Inshore Lifeboat in under 24 hours with the lifeboat being at sea for a total of six hours.
