At 13:42 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to assist the 9m Motorsailer Blue Shark with two persons on board which had reported fouling its propeller off August Rock at the entrance to the Helford River.
The All Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon berth at 13:51 and headed across Falmouth Bay arriving on scene off August Rock at 14:11. The lifeboats inflatable Y-Boat was launched and two lifeboat crew went over to the vessel to assist in clearing the fishing gear from its propeller. Once this was complete the lifeboat took passed a tow line to the vessel and towed it to a visitors mooring off Durgan Village in the Helford River. Once safely moored at 15:04 the All Weather Lifeboat was released to return to its station.
The All Weather Lifeboat arrived back alongside its pontoon berth at 15:33 where it was refuelled and ready for service by 15:50.
The vessel had been motor sailing when it had become fouled on fishing gear. The skipper had tried to clear the obstruction but the propeller had remained fouled making the vessel disabled.
