Falmouth All Weather and Inshore Lifeboats were launched after the 22m Sail Training Vessel Spirit of Falmouth with 15 people on board suffered mechanical failure and ran aground at Turnaware Point. Once on scene the situation assessed and twelve of casualties who were by then on the beach were transferred by the Inshore Lifeboat to the All Weather Lifeboat. Once further assistance arrived on scene to standby the vessel as tide dropped both lifeboats were released and the twelve casualties were taken back to the lifeboat station while the skipper and two crew remained on scene to assist with the vessels refloating in the early hours of the morning.
