At 23:32 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather be launched to assist the Inshore Lifeboat in a search for the 22ft yacht Sweet Pea that had been reported overdue. The yacht had left Truro earlier in the day and the skipper’s family had become concerned when he had not returned or made contact.

At 11:22 Falmouth Coastguard requested that both Falmouth All Weather and Inshore Lifeboats be launched following a 999 call from the skipper of the 21ft open fishing boat Solitaire reporting that he was 300m off Pendower Beach and had fouled his propeller and was in danger of being driven ashore in the heavy sea conditions.

Container Ship Baltic Sea dragging its anchor

At 10:41 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched after reports that the Container Ship Baltic Sea (99m / 2,978 GRT) was dragging its anchor in Falmouth Bay and in danger of going ashore at Pennance Point in storm force conditions. The harbour authorities were also alerted and the Pilot Boat L K Mitchell proceeded with a harbour pilot.

At 09:36 Falmouth Coastguard requested that both Falmouth All Weather and Inshore Lifeboats be launched following a report from a fishing vessel of what appeared to be a large liferaft approximately 5 miles east of Zone Point. The fishing vessel was unable to investigate further as it had its gear down.

The fishing vessel was unable to investigate further as it had its gear down.

At 16:42 Falmouth Coastguard requested that both Falmouth All Weather and Inshore Lifeboats be launched following 999 calls reporting a surfer in difficulty off Portscatho. The Portscatho Coastguard Cliff Rescue Team was also tasked to assist.
