Boat: All Weather Lifeboat Crew: Alan Barnes (Coxswain), John Murray, Peter Wood, Snowey Angove, David Proud, Nick Lewis, Neil McClarity, Andy McInnes Location: August Rock at the entrance to Helford River Shout Date: 14/08/2002 (All day) Weather:S 3, Moderate Sea, Fair Visibility, Overcast with Mist At 16:59 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat be launched to assist Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat with the refloating of the 30ft Yacht That Much which had run aground on August Rock earlier in the afternoon. The Inshore Lifeboat crew was concerned that the yacht was starting to pound heavily on the rocks on the incoming tide, and further assistance was required, especially in case the yacht was to start taking water. The Offshore Lifeboat left her berth at 17:12 and arrived on scene at 17:36, and with the assistance of the Inshore Lifeboat prepared to tow the eight tonne yacht off the rocks. At 18:12 the yacht was successfully refloated and on confirmation that there was no large ingress of water, the Offshore Lifeboat started the tow back to St Mawes. The Inshore Lifeboat then recovered the two anchors that had been laid to assist in refloating the yacht. At 19:14 once off St Mawes Harbour the casualty confirmed that they were happy to proceed up the Percuil River under their own power so both Lifeboats were released to return to station. The Offshore Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 19:31, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 20:00.
