Boat: All Weather Lifeboat Crew: Alan Barnes (Coxswain), David Proud, Nick Lewis, Alan Rowe, John Blakeston, Alistair Heane ,Mark Pollard, Carl Beardmore Location: 1 mile South East of August Rock Shout Date: 29/09/2002 (All day) Weather:SE 4, Moderate Sea and Swell, Good Visibility, Sunny At 12:32 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat be launched to assist the 34ft Yacht Sleuth Hound which had reported losing its steering 1 mile South East of August Rock Buoy. The yacht had four persons onboard and was concerned that they were on a lee shore. The Offshore Lifeboat left her berth at 12:45 and made best speed to the yachts position, arriving on scene at 13:05. Once on scene it was found that the yacht had identified the problem with the steering and had rectified the problem so the Offshore Lifeboat escorted the yacht back into Falmouth Harbour where the yacht was safely berthed at 13:50. The Offshore Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 14:01, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 14:16.
