At 16:43 Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was launched by Falmouth Coastguard to assist the 23 ft Yacht ""White Heron"" which was taking water to the North of Castle Buoy, just off St Mawes Castle. The four people onboard the yacht had attracted the attention of another yacht after they noticed water entering the yachts engine compartment.

A number of boats stood by the yacht until the Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 16:47. Two crewmen were put onboard the yacht to assess the situation and two of the yachts crew were transferred to the Inshore Lifeboat. The ingress of water had stopped when the yachts engine had been switched off, so having confirmed that the yacht was not in immediate danger of sinking it was decided to tow the yacht to Mylor Yacht Harbour where she could be lifted out of the water and inspected. It was suspected that the leak had come from the yachts stern gland, as work had recently been carried out on the shaft and propeller. The yacht was safely berthed at Mylor Yacht Harbour at 17:31, and at 17:41 the Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 17:56, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 18:20.
