Boat: All Weather Lifeboat
Crew: David Proud (Coxswain), Peter Wood, Snowy Angove, Tim Julian, Chris Price, Dave Nicoll, Mark Pollard, Carl Beardmore
Location: 3 miles East of Zone Point
Shout Date: 07/08/2003 (All day)
Weather:E 3, Slight Sea, Very Poor Visibility, Thick Fog

At 00:43 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat be launched to assist the 35ft yacht Temptress which had become fouled on fishing gear in thick fog, 3 miles East of Zone Point. The yachts crew had already tried to clear the rope without success and were concerned of the risk of being run down in the thick fog.

The Offshore Lifeboat left her berth at 01:00 and due to the thick fog could only proceed at slow speed to the casualtys position, arriving on scene at 01:43. Two crewmembers were placed onboard the yacht to try and clear the fishing gear, but this proved impossible so the lines were cut and the fishing buoy re-secured. A towline was then passed and at 02:10 the slow tow back to Falmouth was commenced. At 03:15 the casualty was safely berthed alongside the Port Pendennis Marina and the Offshore Lifeboat was released to return to station.

The Offshore Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 03:25, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 03:38.
