At 19:37 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to assist the 34ft Yacht Tavolara, which had become entangled with a Pot Marker 4 miles East of Zone Point and was unable to free itself.

Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon berth at 19:45 arriving on scene at 20:05. The lifeboat used its small inflatable Y-Boat to place two crewmen onboard the yacht to free the pot marker. At 20:20 once the rope had been cut free a towline was passed to the yacht and at 20:35 the tow to Falmouth commenced. The yacht being safely moored alongside at the Port Pendennis Marina at 21:50.

The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 21:57. The lifeboat was then refuelled, and was ready for service by 22:15.

The yacht, which had two adults and a child onboard, had been on passage from Southampton when they had become fouled on the Pot Marker. They had been unable to spot the line in time as they had been sailing directly into the setting sun.
