At 21:42 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to assist the 20ft yacht Summer Vind which was becalmed and had suffered engine failure. The boat was on passage from Helford to Mylor and there was concern for the well being of its single occupant.

The All Weather Lifeboat left her berth at 21:52 and having used its VHF Radio Direction finding equipment to locate the yacht, arrived on scene at 22:06. Two lifeboat crewmen were placed onboard the yacht and the skipper was transferred onto the lifeboat. The yacht was taken in tow for Falmouth where it was safely berthed alongside at Port Pendennis marina at 23:07.

The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 23:18, where it was ready for service by 23:40.
