At 12:28 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore and All Weather Lifeboats be launched following a distress call from the yacht Sleuth Hound reporting that it was aground on Black Rock and that one of its crew had a head injury.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 12:33 arriving on scene at 12:36. The yacht had already been towed off the rocks by a Fishing Vessel so the Inshore Lifeboat stood by until the All Weather Lifeboat arrived at 12:40 and transferred two first aiders to the yacht to assess the injured persons condition. It was decided to leave the casualty onboard the yacht and that the lifeboats should escort the yacht to the lifeboat station. Once the All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon at 13:10 the yacht moored up alongside the lifeboat to allow the paramedics to come onboard to treat the casualty, before taking him to Treliske Hospital for further treatment. The Inshore Lifeboat being released to return to its slip at 13:10.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 13:14 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 13:30.

The 34ft Hallberg Rassey 342 yacht Sleuth Hound had been sailing past Black Rock when it ran aground on the edge of the reef, causing one of its crew to suffer a blow to the head. Thanks to the actions taken by the skipper and his crew along with the assistance of a passing Fishing Vessel the yacht was refloated very quickly without any major damage, the crewman being initially treated by the lifeboat crew prior to being landed into the care of ambulance paramedics.
