Boat: All Weather Lifeboat Crew: Mark Pollard (Coxswain), John Blakeston, Carl Beardmore, Andy Jenkin, Sandy Procter, Neil Capper Location: ½ mile East of Lowland Point Shout Date: 07/07/2011 - 16:35 Weather:SW 3, Slight Sea and Moderate Swell, Good Visibility, Partly Cloudy ![]() At 16:35 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to assist the 30ft yacht Saffron with three people onboard which had reported being caught on a lobster pot marker and was unable to free itself. The dive boat Celtic Cat which had also been in the area and also responded to the yachts request for assistance. The All Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon berth at 16:45 and headed across the bay and around the Manacle Buoy reaching the casualty at 17:12. The yacht had just managed to free itself as the lifeboat arrived on scene, so having checked that no further assistance was required the lifeboat was released to return to its station at 17:18. The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 17:48. The lifeboat was then refuelled and was ready for service by 18:05. The yacht had been on passage and was passing the Manacle Rocks when it had got caught on the Lobster Pot Marker. Despite a number of attempts the crew had been unable to free the line so had called for assistance. The Celtic Cat had stood by the yacht, but luckily the rope had untangled itself just prior to the arrival of the lifeboat.
