At 10:58 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat be launched to go to the assistance of the 30ft Yacht ""Retarrier II"" with three persons onboard, which had put out a Mayday reporting she was on fire off St Just, Carrick Roads. The Pilot Boat, other vessels, and a Rescue Helicopter were also tasked to assist.

The Offshore Lifeboat left her berth at 11:05 and arrived on scene at 11:15. The Pilot Boat was already standing by the yacht, which reported that the fire had been extinguished. A workboat from Mylor Yacht Harbour then took the yacht in tow and at 11:25 all other units were released.

The Offshore Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 11:35, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 11:50.
