Boat: All Weather Lifeboat Crew: Alan Barnes (Coxswain), Roger McClarity, Tim Julian, Chris Price, Snowy Angove, Nick Lewis, Glen Reed, Alan Rowe, John Lower,Mark Pollard. Location: On Passage Falmouth to Helford River Shout Date: 16/03/2002 (All day) Weather:SE 2, Moderate Sea, Good Visibility, Clear Sky At 01:30 Falmouth Coastguard requested that both the Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat and the Inshore Lifeboat be launched to search for the 26ft Yacht ""Red Hot"" with two persons onboard which was overdue on passage from Falmouth to its moorings in the Helford River. The Coastguard Mobile had been tasked earlier in the evening to search for the yacht but been unable to locate it. The Offshore Lifeboat left her berth at 01:44 and proceeded into Falmouth Bay to commence its search. The Inshore Lifeboat which had launched at 01:38 had been tasked to search the Helford River and at 01:57 they located the yacht on its mooring off the Helford Passage. The Owner and his daughter were safe onboard the yacht but due to the low tide had been unable to pick up their dinghy and so get ashore. They had tried to use a mobile phone to advise their contact ashore but its battery had failed. Once the Inshore Lifeboat had confirmed they were safe the Offshore Lifeboat was released to return to station. The Offshore Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 02:29, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 02:45.
