Boat: Inshore Lifeboat Crew: Dave Nicoll (Helmsman), David Proud, Mark Waters (Lifeboat Crew On Yacht) Alister Heane, Marc Thomas Location: Close to Falmouth Docks, Falmouth Harbour Shout Date: 06/11/2000 (All day) Weather:NW 9-10, Rough Sea, Fair Visibility, Heavy Squalls At 21:54 Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was launched by Falmouth Coastguard assist a small yacht with two persons onboard which had been reported in difficulties close to Falmouth Docks. The Fleet Tender ""Meon"" had been returning to Harbour after exercising in the bay with the Culdrose Helicopters, and had sent its Gemini to assist, but due to the weather conditions had requested further assistance. The Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 21:58 and found that the Gemini had assisted the yacht to an outside berth at Port Pendennis Marina, but due to the weather conditions in the Harbour, it was in danger of being swamped. At the same time the Coastguard reported that there was concern for a small inflatable which had been seen in the Harbour at the time of the first incident. The Inshore Lifeboat then carried out a search of the Harbour, and eventually was able to confirm that the inflatable was a tender from the Sail Training Vessel ""Sorren Larson"" which was moored in the Harbour. Although the tender was safe alongside the vessel, there was concern that in the prevailing weather conditions, it would be unsafe for it to be used to recover the remaining crew from ashore. The Inshore Lifeboat was therefore dispatched with additional lifejackets to transfer the remaining crew back to their vessel. The Inshore Lifeboat then returned to the yacht, which was now manned by two additional lifeboat crew, and it was then towed away from Port Pendennis Marina, into the calmer waters at the Yacht Haven off Custom House Quay. One of the yachts crew had suffered a badly cut hand, and he was transferred back to the Lifeboat Station where he was treated by an Ambulance Paramedic. The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 20:55, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 23:12.
