Falmouth Severn Class All Weather Lifeboat - RNLB Richard Cox Scott (17-29)

At 22:56 Falmouth Coastguard requested the launch of Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat to assist the 38ft Yacht Po-go which had five persons onboard and had reported fouling its propeller on a lobster pot marker 2 miles South of Dodman Point.

The All Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon berth at 23:08 and having rounded Zone Point headed east towards the casualty’s position. Once radio contact was made with the yacht it was found that they had managed to cut themselves free from the lobster pot marker but their propeller was still fouled and they were sailing into Veryan Bay. Arriving on scene at 23:46 a tow line was passed to the yacht and the tow back to Falmouth was commenced. By 02:12 the yacht had been safely moored at Falmouth Marina and the lifeboat was released to return to station.

The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 02:25. The lifeboat was in the process of being refuelled, and made ready for service when it was tasked to another incident at 02:32.
