At 16:21 Falmouth Coastguard requested that the Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to assist the 34ft Yacht Picaro with two people onboard, which had suffered engine failure and was requesting assistance 5 miles South East of Zone Point.

Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon berth at 16:30 and arrived at the yachts position at 16:55. Two crew were put onboard the yacht and it was then taken in tow back to Falmouth where it was safely berthed alongside at Port Pendennis Marina at 19:10.

The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 19:17. The lifeboat was then refuelled, and was ready for service by 19:33.

The 34ft Vancouver class yacht with two persons onboard had been on passage from Plymouth and had suffered engine failure. Both crew were exhausted and in view of the conditions it was decided to launch the lifeboat to assist them into the port.
