Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat - RNLB Eve Pank

At 06:38 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following a call reporting a yacht ashore between Loe Beach and Pill Creek. A member of the public was also reported to be trying to reach the yacht in a dinghy.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 06:44 and arrived on scene at 06:49. It was soon established that the yacht had broken free from its moorings and that it was in danger of being badly damaged where it lay. A crewman was placed onboard the yacht and a towline was attached to the stern and by 07:03 the yacht had been pulled clear of the shoreline. The yacht was then placed on a free mooring off Loe Beach and at 07:27 the Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to its station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 07:42 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 07:57.

The 26ft Westerly Yacht Penny Blue had broken free from it’s mooring and had been driven ashore by the strong winds. The decision was made by the Inshore Lifeboat crew to tow the yacht off the shore to save the vessel and also to prevent others endangering themselves.
