Falmouth Severn class all weather lifeboat RNLB Richard Cox Scott (17-29)

At 19:50 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to assist the harbour launch Killigrew with a 60ft yacht that was dragging its anchor in the Inner harbour.

The All Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon berth at 20:00 and arrived alongside the casualty at 20:02. The Lifeboat was strapped alongside the unmanned yacht and after its anchor had recovered it was placed on one of the visitors moorings in the harbour, the lifeboat being released to return to its station at 20:53.

The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 21:00. The lifeboat was refuelled and was ready for service by 21:15.

The unmanned yacht had been moored in the Inner Harbour anchorage but due to the strong North Westerly wind had started to drag its anchor. The harbour launch had gone to assist but had been struggling due to the size of the yacht and the prevailing conditions so the Coastguard tasked the lifeboat to help.
