At 14:58 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat be launched to assist the 27 foot yacht ""Lady Macbeth"" with two people onboard which was taking water 1 mile East of Zone Point. The Pilot Boat ""Trelawney"" and another yacht also proceeded to standby until the arrival of the lifeboat.

The Offshore Lifeboat left her pontoon berth at 15:07 and was arrived on scene at 15:21. The second yacht had taken the ""Lady Macbeth"" in tow, and one of the Pilot Boat crew was onboard the casualty assisting. The Lifeboat placed the salvage pump and two lifeboat crew onboard the yacht, and once the water level had been stabilised, the lifeboat took over the tow from the other yacht.

The yacht was towed to Falmouth Boat Construction's slipway at Flushing, where she was safely beached at 16:20.

The yacht was making its way to the West Coast of Scotland and had been on passage from Fowey to Falmouth when they lost engine propulsion and started taking water. It was found that the propeller shaft had become detached from the gearbox and had fallen out allowing water to enter the yacht via the stern gland.

The Offshore Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 16:37, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 17:00.
