Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat - RNLB Richard Cox Scott (17-29)

At 02:38 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather be launched following a call from the 23ft single-handed yacht Kingclip whose skipper requested assistance due to the adverse weather conditions. There was uncertainty as to the exact position of the yacht.

The All Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon berth at 02:49 and eventually located the yacht 3 miles South East of Manacle Buoy at 03:37. In difficult conditions a towline was established and the yacht was towed back to Falmouth where it was safely berthed at Port Pendennis Marina at 05:40.

The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 05:50. The lifeboat was then refuelled, and was ready for service by 06:10.

The 23ft Yacht Kingclip had been on passage from the Mediterranean when it had encountered adverse weather off the Lizard. The skipper was exhausted and with the yachts sails blown out he wisely called for assistance.
