Boat: Inshore Lifeboat Crew: Oliver Lewis (Helmsman), Jonathan Hackwell, Joe Sabien Location: Off Greenbank Quay, Falmouth Inner Harbour Shout Date: 17/04/2008 (All day) Weather:E 8, Rough Sea & Moderate Swell, Good Visibility, Sunny At 19:41 while the Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was out on exercise in the Carrick Roads, Falmouth Coastguard requested that the inshore lifeboat proceed to investigate a report of a yacht adrift in the harbour. The Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene off Greenbank Quay at 19:44 to find the Yacht Jemelda which was unmanned had broken its mooring and was in danger of being driven onto the lee shore below Greenbank Quay. A crewman was put onboard the yacht and a towline attached to the yachts stern and the strain taken just before the yacht hit the quay. Due to the prevailing conditions the yacht was towed across the harbour into the lee of the docks where it could be sorted out prior to placing it on a mooring. The yacht was safely moored off Custom House Quay at 20:35 and the inshore lifeboat returned to its exercise. The 30ft Yacht Jemelda had been less than a foot of the quay when the tow was established, and would have suffered considerable damage, and possibly been lost had it not been for the prompt action of the inshore lifeboat crew.
