Boat: Inshore Lifeboat Crew: Dave Nicoll (Helmsman), Oliver Lewis, Luke Wills Location: North of Governor Buoy, Carrick Roads Shout Date: 25/07/2008 - 20:16 Weather:N 2, Slight Sea & Swell, Good Visibility, Sunny Periods ![]() At 20:10 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched to assist the Yacht Gwilo and Rigid Inflatable By Blue, which were both broken down to the North of Governor Buoy in the Carrick Roads. The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 20:16 and soon located the 37ft Yacht Gwilo under sail towing the 22ft Rigid Inflatable By Blue to the North of Governor Buoy at 20:19. Having placed a lifeboatman onboard the yacht to discuss the situation it was agreed that the Mylor Harbour Launch would tow the yacht into Mylor while the Inshore Lifeboat would take over the tow of the Rigid Inflatable. Having recovered its crewman the Inshore Lifeboat took the Rigid Inflatable in tow back to its berth at the Visitors Yacht Haven in Falmouths Inner Harbour where she was safely secured at 20:35. The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 20:46 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 20:58. The rigid inflatable with a marine engineer onboard had been called out to carryout mechanical repairs to the yachts engine, and had made its way out into Falmouth Bay to meet the yacht, but had then also suffered engine problems when the fuel lift pump failed, much to the engineers embarrassment. The yacht had then taken the rigid inflatable in tow, but had requested further assistance when they had reach the confines of the Carrick Roads.
