Falmouth Atlantic 75 class inshore lifeboat - RNLB Eve Pank (B756)

At 21:45 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following various VHF calls reporting a yacht dragging its anchor off the Visitors Yacht Haven, and in danger of causing damage to other vessels.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 21:52 arriving on scene at 21:54. It was soon established that the yacht had suffered engine failure and its anchor was not holding in the adverse weather conditions. The inshore lifeboat was strapped alongside the yacht and after considerable difficulties its anchor was recovered and it was towed to the Port Pendennis Marina where it was safely berthed at 22:25.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 22:35 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 22:50.

The yacht had suffered engine failure and despite its crew dropping its anchor they had dragged towards the Visitors Yacht Haven where it collided with other yachts. The inshore lifeboat had been launched as it was considered that the occupants of the various yachts might be at risk as they attempted to resolve the situation.
