Boat: All Weather Lifeboat Crew: Mark Pollard (Coxswain), Peter Wood, David Proud, Alistair Heane, Nick Lewis, John Blakeston, Tom Napper Location: At entrance to harbour, between Black Rock and St Shout Date: 24/07/2005 (All day) Weather:W 6, Moderate Sea, Good Visibility, Overcast with Showers At 14:45 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to assist the 23ft yacht East Light which had lost its main halyard, and suffered a fouled propeller. Other vessels were standing by the yacht until the arrival of the lifeboat. The All Weather Lifeboat left her berth at 14:52 arriving on scene at 14:59. A yacht had managed to get a line onboard the East Light and was towing her clear of danger when the lifeboat arrived, so the lifeboat passed the yacht and took over the tow at 15:07. The yacht was taken into the lee of the Docks Inner Basin where the propeller was cleared and the halyard fixed. The skipper was happy that he could continue his passage to the Helford under his own power so the lifeboat was released to return to station at 15:34. The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 15:44, where it was ready for service by 16:00.
