At 13:49 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following a call from the 34ft yacht Doris reporting that she had a rope around her propeller and was attempting to get around St Anthony Lighthouse and into Falmouth. The Fire Brigade Rigid Inflatable Transco Phoenix was also tasked to respond as they were afloat acting as a safety boat for Falmouth Regatta week.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 13:55 and located the Yacht Doris anchored off Lighthouse Beach at 14:00. A towline was established and once the yacht had recovered its anchor it was towed to Falmouth with Transco Phoenix and another safety boat providing an escort through the racing fleet. The yacht was safely moored up at Port Pendennis Marina at 14:41 where a diver was arranged to clear the obstruction, the Inshore Lifeboat being released to return to its station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 14:48 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 15:05.

The Bavaria 34 yacht had been on passage from its base at Dartmouth when it had fouled a rope rounding Zone Point. With light airs and being close to the headland the skipper advised the Coastguard of his situation before managing to sail into the anchorage under the Lighthouse where he dropped his anchor to await assistance. The skipper had attempted to clear the obstruction but this proved impossible so the services of a diver were later required.
