Boat: All Weather Lifeboat Crew: Alan Barnes (Coxswain), Snowy Angove, David Proud, Mark Pollard, Alan Rowe, John Blakeston, Nick Lewis, Card Beardmore Location: Trefusis Point Shout Date: 03/04/2004 (All day) Weather:SW 8, Rough Sea, Good Visibility, Overcast with Showers At 15:26 Falmouth Coastguard requested that both the Falmouth Inshore and Offshore Lifeboats be launched following a report of a 26ft yacht on the rocks at Trefusis Point. The Falmouth Coastguard Mobile and the Pilot Boat L K Mitchell were also tasked to assist. The Offshore Lifeboat left her berth at 15:38 and arrived on scene at 15:40. The Inshore Lifeboat, which had left its slipway at 15:28, was already on scene and had confirmed that the yacht was on the rocks and its two occupants had made the shore safely. The Offshore Lifeboat stood off while the Inshore Lifeboat placed a crewmember ashore with a hand held radio, to confirm that the occupants did not require medical attention. Once this had been done, the crewman also managed to lower the yachts foresail to try and prevent it being driven further onto the rocks. Although the yacht was in danger of breaking up on the rocks, it did not present any danger to members of the public so the lifeboat crew left the owner to arrange for a local salvage firm to recover it which was successfully completed later in the afternoon. The Offshore Lifeboat was released to return to station at 15:58, while the Inshore Lifeboat remained to recover its crewman, which it completed at 16:10. Members from the Coastguard Mobile team remained on scene until the yacht was recovered. The Offshore Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 16:11, where it was ready for service by 16:20.
