Falmouth Atlantic 75 Class Inshore Lifeboat - RNLB Eve Pank (B756)

At 14:18 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following a call from another yacht, which was trying to assist the 24ft Yacht Bird of March, which had suffered engine failure while heading up the Carrick Roads for its winter lay-up.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 14:23 and arrived on scene off Messack Point at 14:25. The inshore lifeboat placed a crewman onboard the yacht to assist in rigging the towline and at 14:34 the yacht was undertow and heading up river. At 15:08 the yacht had been safely moored up at the King Harry Pontoon and the Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to station.

At 15:24 as the Inshore Lifeboat was passing Falmouth Docks it was retasked to investigate a report of a windsurfer in difficulty off Governor Buoy.

The 24ft Halcon Yacht had already dropped its mast prior to heading up river so when its engine had failed the skipper and his crew had no other means of making headway. The yacht, which had gone to their assistance, had struggled in the prevailing weather conditions so it had been decided to launch the Inshore Lifeboat to assist.
