Boat: Inshore Lifeboat Crew: Marc Thomas (Helmsman), Oliver Lewis, Andy Jenkin Location: Carrick Roads Shout Date: 03/06/2008 (All day) Weather:Calm, Calm Sea & No Swell, Good Visibility, Clear Sky At 21:53 Falmouth Coastguard requested that the Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched to assist an 18ft yacht with one person onboard, which was becalmed in the Carrick Roads and had suffered engine failure. The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 22:00 and headed up the Carrick Roads. At 22:09 the yacht was located near the ski area and a tow was established, the yacht being taken back to its mooring off Loe Beach. Having obtained details the inshore lifeboat was released to return to station at 22:40. The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 22:55 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 23:13. The yacht had been becalmed and on trying to start its outboard it had found that it would not start despite being recently overhauled, leaving the skipper little alternative than to ask for assistance as the light faded.
