Falmouth Inshore lifeboat - RNLB Eve Pank (B-756)

At 16:35 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following reports of a yacht aground on Black Rock at the entrance to Falmouth Harbour.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 16:41 and arrived on scene at 16:45. The motor sailor Thimble II had already got a line on the yacht and was towing it clear of the rocks as the Inshore Lifeboat arrived. The Inshore Lifeboat put a crewman onboard the yacht to check for any water ingress, and confirmed the only damage was that the yacht had lost its rudder. The Inshore Lifeboat then took over the tow and headed for Mylor Harbour where the yacht was safely berthed alongside the harbour pontoon at 17:31, the Inshore Lifeboat then being released to return to station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 17:43 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 17:58.

The 25ft Westerly Jouster Yacht had been sailing off the entrance to Falmouth Harbour when it had run aground on the reef behind Black Rock. Both the skipper and his crew were quite shaken by the experience and were very grateful for the assistance of the Inshore Lifeboat and Thimble II.
