Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was launched at 16:16 to go to the assistance of a Windsurfer who had been reported in difficulties between Pendower Beach and Nare Head, in Gerrans Bay. Portscatho Coastguard Mobile was also dispatched to assist.

The Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 16:30 and with the assistance of the Coastguard located the Windsurfer close to the rocks. A line was thrown to the Windsurfer and he was pulled clear, where he was then recovered onto the inshore lifeboat with his board and sail. After checking he did not require any medical attention he was returned to Pendower Beach, where he was assisted ashore through the surf by one of the inshore lifeboat crew. Once the crewman had been recovered at 17:02 the inshore lifeboat was released to return to station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back at station by 17:25, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 17:45.
