Boat: Inshore Lifeboat Crew: Dave Nicoll (Helmsman), Andy Jenkin, Jonathan Hackwell Location: Off Nare Point, Helford Shout Date: 04/08/2011 - 13:12 Weather:W 5, Moderate Sea and Slight Swell, Good Visibility, Sunny Periods ![]() At 13:12 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following a report from the National Coast Watch lookout at Nare Point that a windsurfer appeared to be in difficulties close to the point. The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 13:18 and headed across the bay arriving on scene at 13:28. The windsurfer had already been picked up by a nearby angling boat so the inshore lifeboat escorted the boat back into Parbean Cove where one of the lifeboat crew helped the windsurfer with his gear and got details of the incident. Having recovered the crewman the inshore lifeboat was released to return to station at 13:39. The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 13:52 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 14:10. The windsurfer had been caught by the wind funnelling down the Helford River and had been struggling to make headway back into the shelter of Parbean Cove.
