Falmouth Atlantic 75 class inshore lifeboat - RNLB Eve Pank (B756)

Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was just passing Governor Buoy while returning from a service searching for a missing swimmer off Portscatho, when at 15:48 Falmouth Coastguard requested that the Inshore Lifeboat proceed to St Mawes where a windsurfer had been reported in difficulty.

The Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 15:51 and located the windsurfer close to the rocks near the Hotel Tresanton Beach. He was recovered from the water along with his board and rig and returned to the beach where he was safely landed at 16:06. Once the casualty's details had been obtained the Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 16:12 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 16:25.

The windsurfers mast foot had broken preventing him from being able to sail and in view of the prevailing weather conditions and the fact that he was being driven towards the rocks people onshore had requested assistance. The casualty had initially refused assistance but once the volunteer lifeboat crew had pointed out his predicament he had accepted their help.
