Catamaran Cornish Meadow taking water

All-weather lifeboat (Launched 13:39 / Returned 14:25) Andy Jenkin (Deputy 2nd Coxswain), Carl Beardmore, Tom Bird, Diane Bush, Jonathan Hackwell, Jamie Connoly, Adrian Hingston.
At 13:32 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to assist the 8m Catamaran Cornish Meadow which was taking on water off Black Rock. The catamaran had two crew on board and was being assisted by other local vessels were assisting the Catamaran.
The All Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon berth at 13:39 and located the catamaran off the entrance to St Mawes Harbour being towed by another vessel. Once it had been established that the water ingress had been stemmed the lifeboat escorted the towing vessel and catamaran into Falmouth Harbour. Once in the inner harbour at 14:15 it was confirmed that the two vessels were happy to continue up the Penryn River to Ponsharden unaccompanied so the All Weather Lifeboat was released to return to its station.
The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth at 14:25, where the lifeboat was refuelled and ready for service by 14:40.
The Firebird Catamaran had been taking part in a race in Falmouth Bay when one of its rudders became detached and punctured the hull causing the ingress of water.
