At 01:37 Falmouth Coastguard requested that both Falmouth All Weather and Inshore Lifeboats be launched to assist in a search for a vulnerable missing person in the area of the Penryn River. The Falmouth and Porthoustock Coastguard Cliff Rescue Teams, the Coastguard Helicopter, the Fire Brigade water access team and the Police were all also tasked to assist.
The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 01:44 followed shortly afterwards by the All Weather Lifeboat which left its pontoon berth at 01:48. Both lifeboats headed up through the Falmouth Inner Harbour into the Penryn River. The Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 01:53 and commenced a search concentrating on the area between Penryn Quay and Islington Wharf. The All Weather Lifeboat arrived off Coastlines Wharf at 02:02 and having launched its small inflatable Y-Boat both commenced a search of the Penryn River working up stream. At 02:21 as the All Weather Lifeboat arrived off Penryn Quay it was confirmed that the missing person had been located safe and well ashore so all search units were released to return to their stations.
The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 01:41 and the All Weather Lifeboat arrived back alongside its pontoon berth at 01:47, with both being refuelled and ready for service by 02:00.
