Boat: Inshore Lifeboat Crew: Dave Nicoll (Helmsman), Carl Beardmore, Oliver Lewis Location: Between Gyllyngvase and Swanpool Beaches Shout Date: 04/08/2007 (All day) Weather:SE 4, Moderate Sea and Swell, Good Visibility, Overcast At 05:54 Falmouth Coastguard requested that the Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following a report from the police of an unconscious female casualty on the rocks between Gyllyngvase and Swanpool Beaches. The Falmouth Coastguard Mobile and Ambulance Paramedics were also tasked. The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 05:59, arriving on scene off the old sewage tank and pipeline at 06:06. Two lifeboat crewmen were placed ashore to assess the situation. It soon became apparent that the casualty was in a very poor condition and needed immediate evacuation. While a helicopter was being scrambled from RNAS Culdrose it was decided to place the casualty in the inshore lifeboats stretcher and transfer her to Swanpool beach using the inshore lifeboat so that the additional medical facilities of the ambulance could be utilised until the arrival of the helicopter. By 06:16 the casualty and two paramedics were onboard the inshore lifeboat and at 06:21 the lifeboat was beached at Swanpool to allow the casualty to be landed. She was then taken up to the car park where additional treatment was provided until the helicopter arrived at 06:25. By 06:28 the casualty and the two paramedics were onboard the helicopter and on their way to Treliske Hospital. Having recovered their equipment the inshore lifeboat was released to return to station at 06:32. The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 06:48 where it was refuelled, and was ready for service by 07:10. The combined team work of all the emergency services and the speedy evacuation of this casualty undoubtedly ensured that she had the best possible chance of survival.
