Boat: Inshore Lifeboat Crew: Oliver Lewis (Helmsman), Tom Bird, Tom Napper Location: Near Swanpool Beach Shout Date: 19/05/2008 (All day) Weather:SE 3, Slight Sea & Moderate Swell, Good Visibility, Sunny Periods At 16:27 Falmouth Coastguard requested that the Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following a report of two youths cut off by the tide on the south side of Swanpool Beach below the Three Mackerels. The Falmouth Coastguard Mobile and Cliff Rescue Team were also tasked to assist. The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 16:34 arriving on scene at 16:40. The two youths could be seen on the rocks with no means of getting back up. As the casualties were in no immediate danger and in view of the ground swell that was running it would be unsafe to try and recover them from seaward so the inshore lifeboat crew decided to await the full Coastguard Cliff Team who would be able to recover them up the cliff face. The inshore lifeboat stood by a short distance offshore to provide safety cover while the casualties were recovered, being finally released to return to station at 17:12. The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 17:28 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 17:45. Both casualties were suitably embarrassed by the situation they had got themselves into.
