Boat: All Weather Lifeboat Crew: Mark Pollard (Coxswain), Peter Wood, David Proud, Alistair Heane, John Blakeston, Mark Waters, Andy Jenkins, Luke Wills, John Hackwell Location: Off Gyllyngvase Beach Shout Date: 02/11/2005 (All day) Weather:SSW 7, Rough Sea, Good Visibility, Overcast At 17:06 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore be launched to assist two windsurfers in difficulties close to the sea wall near Gyllyngvase Beach. At 17:15 it was decided that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat should also launch to provide backup for the Inshore Lifeboat. Falmouth Coastguard Mobile and a Rescue Helicopter from RNAS Culdrose were also tasked to join the Police units, which were already on scene. The All Weather Lifeboat left its berth at 17:23 to join the Inshore Lifeboat, which had arrived on scene at 17:20. Waiting for a suitable lull in the conditions the Inshore Lifeboat was taken close into the sea wall and the two casualties were recovered from the water, before the Inshore Lifeboat was taken back out into safer water. The windsufering boards and sails were not recovered due to the risk involved. Having checked the casualties over it was confirmed that no medical attention was required, so the Inshore Lifeboat headed back to Pendennis Point where the casualties were transferred onto the All Weather Lifeboat for the journey back into Falmouth Harbour. The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 17:53, where it was ready for service by 18:10.
