At 20:57 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following a report from the Police that two persons were in the water off Greenbank Quay, in Falmouth Inner Harbour. The Falmouth Coastguard Mobile and a Helicopter from Culdrose were also requested to assist.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 21:03 and arrived on scene off Greenbank Quay at 21:06.

The Inshore Lifeboat located the two people in a small rowing dinghy just upstream from the Greenbank Quay. They were assisted back to the quay, and as both had been in the water, they were taken up to the Coastguard Mobile for warmth while they awaited the arrival of an Ambulance. The Helicopter was kept on standby until their condition had been assessed.

Having been assessed and treated by the Paramedics, both casualties declined to be taken to the Casualty Unit at Truro, so the Coastguard Mobile took them by road, back to their house boat on the opposite side of the river at Sailors Creek, near Flushing. The Inshore Lifeboat towed their dinghy back across the river, and secured it in a position where it could be easily collected at first light. At 22:04 the Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 22:20, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 22:40.
