Boat: All Weather Lifeboat Crew: Mark Pollard (Coxswain), Snowy Angove, Alan Rowe, John Blakeston, Nick Lewis, Phil Rogers, John Lower, Carl Beardmore, Luke Wills Location: Maenporth Beach Area Shout Date: 29/08/2007 (All day) Weather:N 4, Slight Sea and Swell, Good Visibility, Partly Cloudy At 22:09 Falmouth Coastguard requested that both the Falmouth Inshore and All Weather Lifeboats be launched to assist the Police and Coastguard in the search for two missing children in the Maenporth area. The eleven and thirteen year olds were on holiday and had left their holiday cottage without permission and there was considerable concern for their well being. The initial request from the police had been for Coastguard assistance for a land based search, but on arrival on scene the officer in charge of the Coastguard search team had requested additional backup from the lifeboats due to close proximity of the cottage to the beach and cliffs. The All Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon at 22:18, the Inshore Lifeboat having launched shortly before. At 22:23 as the lifeboat was passing the eastern Arm of the Docks it was confirmed that the two missing children had been located by police close to their holiday cottage and both lifeboats were released to return to station. The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 22:30. The lifeboat was then refuelled, and was ready for service by 22:35.
