At 09:35 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat be launched to standby the 35m Survey Vessel ""Prince Madog"" which had run aground while carrying out survey work off Greatwood, Carrick Roads.

The Offshore Lifeboat left her berth at 09:45 and arrived on scene at 09:55. The Survey Vessel was well aground on a falling tide and the skipper was concerned that the vessel was in danger of capsizing as she dried out. The Lifeboat was unable to get alongside the vessel due to the shallow water and six non-essential crew were transferred to the lifeboat by the Harbour launch.

At 10:20 it was decided that the lifeboat should be stood down, until the tide had turned and the vessel was due to refloat. It was decided to launch the Inshore Lifeboat to standby the vessel until the Offshore Lifeboat returned.

The Offshore Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 10:30, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 10:40.
