Boat: All Weather Lifeboat Crew: Roger McClarity (Coxswain), John Murray, Chris Price, Snowy Angove, Nick Lewis, Alan Rowe, Mark Pollard, Carl Beardmore Location: Entrance to Helford River Shout Date: 27/07/2001 (All day) Weather:W 2, Slight Sea, Good Visibility, Sunny At 06:09 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Offshore and Inshore Lifeboats be launched following the discovery of an empty small rigid inflatable at the entrance to the Helford River by the local Fishing Boat ""Heart of Oak"". The Offshore Lifeboat was tasked to rendezvous with the fishing boat to look at the inflatable and obtain as much information as possible, while the Inshore Lifeboat commenced a search of the Helford River. The Offshore Lifeboat left her pontoon berth at 06:21 and rendezvoused with the ""Heart of Oak"" in a position to Southeast of the Manacles at 06:45. At the same time the Inshore Lifeboat was just completing its initial search of the Helford River when it located a 36 foot Motor Boat which had lost its tender during the night. The description of the tender was passed to the Offshore Lifeboat who confirmed that this was the inflatable that had been located by the ""Heart of Oak"". The tender was transferred from the Fishing Boat to the Offshore Lifeboat, and once off the entrance to the Helford River at 07:40 it was transferred to the Inshore Lifeboat so it could be returned to its embarrassed owner. The Offshore Lifeboat was then released to return to station. The Offshore Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 08:00, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 08:22.
